Zack, an engineer in the consumer electronics industry, is currently working on developing a new laptop stand for his company. This product aims to address discomfort caused by improper alignment between desks, chairs, and users' heights during the use of laptops, tablets, and computers. As the product is still in the development phase, Eleanore needs 100 pieces to verify its functionality and accelerate its time to market. Machining Challenges for Custom Laptop Cooling Brackets

When evaluating the design for our laptop cooling brackets in the consumer electronics industry, we recognized the complexity due to the use of Aluminum ADC12 and Silicone. The project required precise Die Casting and CNC Machining processes to ensure each part met the required specifications.

Surface finishing posed additional challenges, with Grinding and Spray Coating necessary to achieve the desired quality. Delivering 100 high-quality pieces within an 18-business-day lead time was demanding, but our advanced manufacturing capabilities and experience enabled us to meet the project’s requirements successfully.

DFM Feedback to Optimize Design for Functionality

When evaluating the cooling bracket components, we identified potential design issues that could impact assembly and functionality. For example, the design of the support arms had interferences that could hinder smooth movement when adjusting the stand's height. We recommended refining the design by adjusting certain dimensions and adding chamfers where necessary to ensure that the parts would function as intended without any sticking or resistance.

Ensuring Consistent Surface Treatments

Achieving a consistent finish across all parts was critical for both aesthetics and performance. For the aluminum components, we carefully controlled the grinding and spray coating processes. This included selecting the right coatings and ensuring uniform application to achieve a smooth, durable surface that would not only look good but also provide the necessary protection against wear and corrosion. 

Strict Quality Control and Inspection

ZUERST’s production team followed strict process flowcharts to ensure that each part of the laptop cooling brackets was machined and finished according to schedule. After machining, our quality inspection department rigorously checked dimensional tolerances and verified the product structure against the 3D CAD models. We also conducted first-part inspections, where the initial units were assembled to identify any issues in fit or function. This allowed us to make any necessary adjustments before full-scale production, ensuring a smooth assembly process and flawless final product.
